ABSTRACT
The guided and leaky modes of the optical waveguides (fibers) are analyzed by finite-element method (FEM) with integral boundary conditions. initial equations reduced to algebraic general eigenvalue problem, which is solved Arnoldi algorithm. mode dispersion characteristics, fields, cutoff frequencies calculated for several waveguide structures, including flat multilayer fibers different shapes cross sections.
