ABSTRACT
The polarization characteristics of the multifunctional integrated optic chip (MFIOC) are fully evaluated with high accuracy by using optical coherence domain polarimetry based on white light interferometer. Two maintaining (PM) fibers, serving as extended spliced to PM pigtails MFIOC axes aligned. By launching at 45° birefringence lead-in fiber, beams along fast and slow birefringent waveguides interfere after a analyzer an path correlator. extinction ratio (PER) LiNbO3 Y-waveguide, pigtails, crosstalks connection points between Y-waveguide can be simultaneously obtained from amplitudes positions corresponding interference peaks. characteristic peak Y-waveguide's PER is shifted out source ripple selecting proper length fibers. fibers also brings in two additional cross-coupling ends which used for calculating pigtails. In addition, alignment type identified according position PER. Theoretical model Jones matrix built describe peaks MFIOC. MFIOCs different angle experimentally tested. Results show that resolution proposed method achieve nearly -90 dB dynamic range test system about 90 dB.
