ABSTRACT
An approach to transmitting two independent microwave vector signals on a single optical carrier with one polarization state based coherent detection and digital phase noise cancellation is proposed experimentally demonstrated. At the transmitter, are modulated an via dual-drive Mach-Zehnder modulator (DD-MZM). The transmitted over single-mode fiber (SMF) sent receiver. receiver, detected where local oscillator (LO) wave generated by second free-running laser source also applied. To recover signals, novel signal processing (DSP) algorithm developed applied eliminate joint terms from transmitter LO sources as well unstable offset frequency between sources. experiment performed. transmission of 16 quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) at 4 GHz symbol rate 1 GSymb/s 9-km SMF performance in error magnitudes (EVMs) bit rates (BERs) evaluated.
