ABSTRACT
As an important supplement to radio frequency (RF) communication in a crowded indoor environment, high-speed multi-user visible light (VLC) is promising candidate for practical application compared with point-to-point architecture. In this work, area division concept proposed based on the multi-directional low-cost array transmitter. For first time, series of parallel mini/micro-LEDs transmitters various chip sizes are designed, fabricated and packaged, which used build VLC link. The size-dependent characteristics systematically analyzed, including linearity, electroluminescence, impedance, achievable bandwidth data rate. active regions 75 μm, 100 125 150 175 μm can provide access bandwidths 278 MHz, 190 133 104 MHz 85 at 50-mA driving current two independent users over 3-m link, accordingly. system 75-μm micro-LED transmitter simultaneously support different positions summing rate 2.6 Gbps by implementing pulse-amplitude modulation 4-level (PAM4) schemes Volterra equalizer. maximum distance-rate product 7.8 Gbps·m exhibits superiority accelerate deployment VLC.
