ABSTRACT
We propose and demonstrate a highly efficient photonic-assisted microwave signal harmonic frequency down- conversion using four-wave mixing (FWM) in silicon waveguide with reverse-biased P-i-N junction. The FWM phenomenon occurred the integrated due to doped regions of junction can increase efficiency free carrier removal from region. Correspondingly, is up 12.8 dB bias voltage 30 V. fully packaged grating coupling fiber array wire-bonded printed circuit board (PCB). By simply adjusting low-frequency electrical LO, down converter based on realize accurate tunable ultra-wide operation. This scheme significantly reduce high-frequency demand for LO source. In experiment, RF signals ranging 8 GHz 31 are all converted within 2 by utilizing 5.88.2 signals, signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) larger than 50 achieved. Moreover, phase noise intermediate (IF) as low −80.12 dBc/Hz at an offset 10 kHz spurious dynamic range (SFDR) 105.5 ·</i> Hz 2/3 3rd-order effect 103.8 4th-order signal. shows that reliable further use modern systems such photonic radar.
