ABSTRACT
We report a simple photonic-assisted triangular and square microwave waveforms generator with tunable duty ratio by utilizing dual-polarization Mach-Zehnder modulator (DPol-MZM). The RF signal provided the source is split into two paths to drive x</i> -MZM xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">y</i> -MZM, respectively. An electrical phase shifter (PS) an attenuator are inserted these branches individually control amplitude of signals applied modulator. By properly adjusting PS direct current biases satisfy specific relationship between different harmonics, varies ratios can be obtained. Our proposed scheme features advantages unfixed modulation index, adjustable repetition rate, ratio. In addition, no extra 90° hybrid coupler optical bandpass filter needed in our system, which brings great convenience realistic applications. theoretically analyzed experimentally verified.
