ABSTRACT
Abstract Tympanoblissus ecuatorianus Dellapé & Minghetti, gen. et sp. nov. from the Amazon slope of Eastern Andean Cordillera in southern Ecuador is described. This constitutes second apterous genus known family Blissidae and first with a tymbal‐like mechanism sound production. The tiny males hide bamboo branches where they produce faint drumming sound. observed vertical vibration abdomen fused two tergites folding on both sides midline are consistent presence organ involving abdominal segments. Diagnoses, descriptions illustrations adult other characters, including genitalia, as well oscillograms acoustic signal provided.
