ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to determine the effect two equilibration temperatures (5 °C and room temperature) cryoprotectants (glycerol dimethylformamide, both at 7%) on llama sperm cryopreservation. Llama ejaculates were divided into four aliquots. A lactose-EDTA-egg yolk (LEEY) extender with either 7% glycerol (LEEY-G) or dimethylformamide (LEEY-DMF) added aliquots, which equilibrated for 20 min temperature subsequently frozen. other aliquots extended in LEEY, cooled 5 °C, then LEEY-G LEEY-DMF added, No significant differences (P > 0.05) observed membrane function chromatin condensation between any freeze–thawing protocols. Post-thaw motility greater < than LEEY-G. DNA fragmentation not different raw frozen semen but high all samples glycerol. Our results indicate that would be detrimental spermatozoa, further studies are needed evaluate effectiveness if used lower concentrations. Dimethylformamide preserved integrity frozen–thawed spermatozoa could replace concentrations study.
