ABSTRACT
In South American camelids, sperm survival is low after thawing and poor results are obtained when artificial insemination performed with cryopreserved semen. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect different percentages (10% 50%) seminal plasma added prior process cryopreservation also absence on llama freezing thawing. A total 15 ejaculates from five adult males (n = 5; r 3) were evaluated. significant decrease in motility, viability, membrane function intact acrosomes observed thawed samples (0%, 10% compared raw Neither morphology nor chromatin condensation altered all (p > 0.05), but a increase < 0.05) percentage spermatozoa fragmented DNA Higher progressive motility 0% used 50%. However, no statistical differences established for function, morphology, acrosome status quality between treatments. To conclude, neither showed superiority cryoprotective survival.
