ABSTRACT
Background The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility and safety an enhanced recovery programme ( ERP ) in patients aged ≥75 years who undergo laparoscopic surgery for colorectal cancer. Methods Patients were divided into two groups according perioperative management: group (Group A, n = 94) conventional care B, 157). postoperative outcomes compared between groups. Results There no differences terms age, gender, American Society Anesthesiologists score, operative time or blood loss Postoperative return gastrointestinal function significantly faster Group A including first flatus (2 versus 3 days, P < 0.001), stool (3 4 0.001) oral intake (1 0.001). associated with lower overall complication rate (26.6% 44.6%, 0.004) general (14.9% 31.2%, 0.004). median hospital stay 6 days 8 B respectively. Conclusions following resection elderly is recovery, shorter fewer complications care.
