ABSTRACT
Abstract Purpose Epiretinal membranes (ERM) are macular disorders leading to loss of vision and metamorphopsia. Vitrectomy with membrane peeling displays the gold standard care. Aim this study was assess risk factors for postoperative intraretinal cystoid changes in a population randomized balanced salt solution air‐tamponade at end surgery. Methods A prospective study, including 69 eyes idiopathic ERM. Standard 23‐gauge three‐port pars plana vitrectomy peeling, using intraoperative optical coherence tomography ( OCT ), performed. Randomization BSS performed prior Results Best‐corrected visual acuity improved from 32.9 letters 45.1 3 months after Presence preoperative found be only factor presence surgery (p = 0.01; odds ratio: 8.0). Other possible such as combined phacoemulsification 23G‐ppv 0.16; 2.4), subfoveal hyporeflective zones 0.23; 2.6), age over 70 years 0.29; 0.5) 0.59; 1.5) were not significant. Conclusion There is strong evidence that lead smaller benefit
