ABSTRACT
We describe the clinical, microbiologic, therapeutic, and outcome characteristics of infants under three months age with a positive urine culture reported after discharge from emergency department normal urinalysis.We enrolled all obtained during an room visit 2004-2012, discharged without antibiotic therapy subsequently culture.Three hundred ninety-three cultures were reported; 46/393 (11.7%, 42 in patients two age) had following urinalysis at first visit. Fifteen (33%) second visit; 11/15 (73%) one month age, eight asymptomatic seven mild symptoms Pathogens isolated 15 identical between All 27 re-examined hospitalised, completed sepsis work/up received treatment. None developed serious bacterial infections.We propose new management approach for young suggest restricting option including hospitalisation, treatment only to age.
