ABSTRACT
M. hominis is commonly found as part of the normal flora in female genital tract, but several studies have shown that it may be involved a variety urogenital infections. The basis for clinical manifestations some patients has varyingly been attributed to host and factors. factors infection process are largely unknown. no cell wall outer membranes, at present seems plausible possesses genetic systems allowing bacteria vivo alter its antigenic structure on membrane surface consequently circumvent immune system. variation pronounced between exposed proteins from different isolates. background this investigated three proteins: P120, Lmp, Vaa. P120 P120' similar without any homology other known proteins. A hypervariable region otherwise conserved protein very with immunologically verified infection. remaining well entire do not seem elicit significant antibody formation. Two genes hominis, lmp1 lmp3, contain numerous highly 0.5 kb tandem repeats their 3'-end. proteins, Lmp1 Lmp3, synthesized lmp3 genes, respectively. shows size among isolates detail show corresponds number contained within gene. Lmp3 appears lesser tendency variation. were deletions involving stop codon leading translation downstream gene lmp2 expression chimeric Lmp1-Lmp2 protein. repeated elements isolate correlates extent anti-Lmp induced agglutination bacteria. Vaa adherence. vaa single copy containing like lmp family. differs It suggested importance bacteria-host adhesion process. Beside demonstrates phase due frequent frame shift mutation specific near 5'-end structural Based investigations mycoplasmas mechanisms responsible mycoplasmas: 1) insertions or deletion gene, 2) presence multi-gene families, 3) mutations promotor coding region. influence antibodies studied greater mycoplasmas. In was whether culture medium monoclonal directed against Lmp would affect expression. resulted overgrowth leaving unchanged. precise mechanism dominance fewer 0. (ABSTRACT TRUNCATED)
