ABSTRACT
Abstract Aims Grassland plant species diversity is affected by local, temporal and landscape environmental factors, but what the relative importance of those factors? Understanding this crucial for effective conservation grassland vegetation. We analyzed factors affecting richness to contribute native alien management in Location Semi‐natural grasslands Shiroi City, Chiba Prefecture, Japan. Methods The composition 36 was surveyed 2014. Plants were classified as specialist, other or species. Generalized Linear Models (GLM) developed, with number each type response variable local (habitat area, use mowing management), (adjacent land use, connectivity habitats) (period which has been preserved from development, i.e., continuity) explanatory variables. Other GLM developed presence/absence a three Results Habitat continuity most important explaining specialist had significant positive effects on their richness. Species‐based analysis identified effect By contrast, habitat area adjacent related high farmlands roads. Conclusions spatial differs between specialists Mowing specialists’ diversity, particularly historically old grasslands. However, it necessary pay attention invasion residential agricultural areas.
