Chemoradiotherapy with taxane is superior to conventional surgery and radiotherapy in the management of cutaneous angiosarcoma: a multicentre, retrospective study

ABSTRACT
The prognosis of cutaneous angiosarcoma (CAS), especially for patients with tumours > 5 cm has been reported to be dismal, even after conventional surgery and radiotherapy (S + RT).To demonstrate the efficacy chemoradiotherapy taxane (T RT) maintenance chemotherapy.We retrospectively reviewed 16 CAS treated T RT 12 S RT. None had distant metastasis. Tumour sites included scalp (n = 25) limbs 3). chemotherapy regimens used in were monthly docetaxel 10), biweekly 1), weekly 5) paclitaxel 1). median radiation dose was 70 Gy. Nine receiving continued as therapy (monthly nine two patients) four received adjuvant (weekly docetaxel).The response ratio 94% (14 complete remission one partial remission). 5-year overall survival (OS) rate statistically higher than those (56% 8%, respectively; P < 0·01). Moreover, who showed a significant improvement OS alone (P There strong trend relapse-free survival, but it not 0·07). These data indicate that is crucial long-term RT.From these results, we suggest followed by plausible method managing CAS, large are difficult manage alone.
