ABSTRACT
Comparative data on the distribution of non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) subtypes in Southern Africa (SAF) is scarce. In this study, five expert haematopathologists classified 487 consecutive cases NHL from SAF using World Health Organization classification, and compared results to North America (NA) Western Europe (WEU). had a significantly lower proportion low-grade (LG) B-NHL (34·3%) higher high-grade (HG) (51·5%) WEU (54·5% 36·4%) NA (56·1% 34·3%). High-grade Burkitt-like was more common (8·2%) than (2·4%) (2·5%), most likely due human immunodeficiency virus infection. When patients were divided by race, whites frequency LG (60·4%) HG (32·7%) blacks (22·5% 62·6%), whereas other races intermediate. Whites follicular blacks. The median ages with B-NHL, T-NHL (64, 56 67 years) those (55, 41 34 years). Epidemiological studies are needed better understand these differences.
