ABSTRACT
Pancreatic cancer is a solid tumour that often fatal. Hence, there an urgent need to identify new drug targets for this disease. Highly proliferating cells have increased demand nutrients and, therefore, up-regulate selective amino acid transporters. Here, we investigated which transporters are up-regulated in pancreatic and whether any of these has potential as target fatal disease. The expression was analysed using publicly available microarray datasets, the findings with transporter SLC6A14 were validated by mRNA protein analysis. The evaluated pharmacological blocker vitro vivo.SLC6A14 several fold patient-derived xenografts, primary tissues lines compared normal tissue or epithelial cells. magnitude up-regulation highest among examined. A SLC6A14, α-methyltryptophan, induced starvation reduced growth proliferation cells, both vivo. The salient features study markedly blockade interferes nutrition reduces These novel druggable cancer.
