ABSTRACT
Abstract Sediment accumulation rates in foreland basins result from a complex interplay between surface and deep processes both the exhumed relief domain sedimentary basins. The growth decay of mountain belt during orogenic post‐orogenic phases have been largely studied, thanks to thermochronological structural studies. response preserved sediments surrounding is well known terms filling patterns architecture, but much less better quantified. Here, we performed measurement siliciclastic sediment volumes Pyrenean retro‐foreland basin—the Aquitaine Basin Bay Biscay Cenozoic times—for understanding erosion transfer deposition convergence (syn‐orogenic) post‐convergence (post‐orogenic) periods Pyrenees Mountain. compacted based on thickness (isopach) maps lithologies, derived interpretation 40,000 kms seismic profiles. Thanks quantification well‐known basin tectono‐sedimentary evolution, bring quantitative results as: amount 51,500 ± 16,800 km 3 for Cenozoic. rate curve shows two major increases around 26.0 2.5 Ma.
