ABSTRACT
The interactions between premature birth and the caregiving environment on infants' cognitive social functioning were examined. Participants 150 infants (83 preterm, 67 full‐term) their parents. When 6 months old, parents reported levels of emotional distress, triadic family filmed coded. At 12 age, was assessed. Prematurity moderated effects maternal (but not paternal) distress outcomes. Whereas for consistent with a diathesis–stress approach, differential susceptibility approach. groups outcomes are discussed.
