ABSTRACT
The combinations of adipokines and body mass parameters to estimate carotid atherosclerotic disease have not been completely delineated.To test the well-established, easily accessible indices circulating biomarkers identify increased intima-media thickness (cIMT) in a primary prevention setting.In cross-sectional analysis 339 asymptomatic individuals with no history cardiovascular events, inflammatory insulin sensitivity as well adipokine levels were measured combined evaluate best marker for cIMT.As isolated parameters, index (BMI) adiponectin identified abnormal cIMT (P = .04). Adiponectin also linked relationship between BMI (β 0.0371; P .01). Twenty-nine missed by alone but detected combining measurements. When compared alone, combination plus improved c-statistic (0.549-0.567) integrated discrimination improvement (0.01725; .021).
