ABSTRACT
Abstract The identification of research questions with high relevance for biodiversity conservation is an important step towards designing more effective policies and management actions, to better allocate funding among alternative options. However, the priority may be influenced by regional differences in threats social contexts, variations perceptions interests different stakeholders. Here we describe results a prioritization exercise involving six types stakeholders from Mediterranean biome, which includes several hotspots spread across five regions planet (Europe, Africa, North South America, Australia). We found great heterogeneity stakeholder topics identified disagreement priorities scientists other governance, climate change, public participation issues were key most regions. conclude that should targeted way integrates spectrum interests, potential sources needs, further development interdisciplinary studies required. here provide basis identify aligned needs this biome.
