ABSTRACT
Abstract Background Using fluoroquinolone prophylaxis in pediatric neutropenic patients is a controversial issue due to the concern about emergence of resistant strains addition lack studies. This study was performed assess effectiveness levofloxacin during autologous stem cell transplantation. Methods an observational who underwent transplantation, comparing received historical controls. Results A total 96 were included (46 control group and 50 levofloxacin). The median duration till onset first fever 11 d as compared 15 (p ≤ 0.001). incidence infectious complications higher without (4/46) than those with (1/50). empirical antibiotic use 10 14 < Conclusion Levofloxacin delayed spike fever, decreased septic complications, shortened empiric use, but its impact on organisms should be closely monitored.
