ABSTRACT
Fabry disease (FD) is characterized by left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). Conventional echocardiography not sensitive enough to perform the preclinical diagnosis To assess whether longitudinal myocardial strain of ventricle (LV), using speckle tracking, useful detect early involvement in FD. Forty-four patients with FD who were diagnosed genetic testing prospectively included and compared a sex-matched control group. They divided into three groups: 22 LVH (Group I), without II), healthy volunteers III). LV was measured from apical views. An ANOVA test used for multiple comparisons variables normal distribution, Kruskal-Wallis non-Gaussian distribution. Longitudinal different it ≥-15% at least one segment all Group I patients, 50% II no patient III. Seventy percent segments abnormal located basal regions (32/46). These findings show that presence value demonstrates subclinical dysfunction tracking tool young This information allows detection treatment an stage, which high clinical importance.
