The types and management of dental trauma during military service in Finland

ABSTRACT
All Finnish males must attend compulsory military service that lasts from 6 months to 1 year. About 25 000 (approximately 80% of each age cohort) and 400 volunteer females complete the annually. The aim study was investigate types dental trauma occurring among conscripts during their service. article also focused on how is treated in Defence Forces.All records Forces' patient register concerning years 2011 2012 were analysed by tooth number, treatment procedures number visits.According register, 361 suffered an oral service; thus, average annual incidence 7.2 per 1000 conscripts. A total 483 teeth traumatized 2-year period. most frequently maxillary central incisors (61%), common findings enamel or enamel-dentin fractures (63% all findings). Severe not common, severe ones occurred off-duty hours. direct filling (n = 189 patients). Only 53 patients had soft tissue injuries (bruises, wounds). Among with trauma, mean visits clinic 1.9. Great variation exists recording trauma.Minor common. In cases, treatments should be performed carefully.
