ABSTRACT
Summary This report describes the history, clinical signs and treatment of three horses suffering from deviation immobility mandible resulting fracture a coronoid process mandible. Deviation resulted impingement callus between temporal bone zygomatic arch. Fracture was identified by using radiography, ultrasonography, computed tomography or combination two more these imaging modalities. Osteoarthritis ipsilateral temporomandibular joint identified. All were treated excising fractured process, also diseased mandibular condyle. able to open their mouth widely immediately after surgery. One horse experienced moderate post‐operative haemorrhage, all had severe shear mouth. Shear ameliorated gradually over many months rasping dental overgrowths. Mandibular movement improved, allowing efficient mastication feed. be used as showjumper, one sold at Thoroughbred yearling sales lost follow‐up, died an unrelated gastrointestinal disease 10 coronoidectomy condylectomy.
