ABSTRACT
The continuous improvement of analytical procedures using multi‐collector technologies in ICP‐mass spectrometry has led to an increased demand for isotope standards with improved homogeneity and reduced measurement uncertainty. For magnesium, this a variety available different quality levels ranging from artefact reference materials certified absolute ratios. This required intercalibration all materials, which we present interlaboratory comparison study. Cambridge1, DSM3, ERM‐AE143, ERM‐AE144, ERM‐AE145, IRMM‐009 NIST SRM 980 were cross‐calibrated expanded uncertainties (95% confidence level) less than 0.030‰ the δ 25/24 Mg values 0.037‰ 26/24 values. Thus, comparability magnesium delta (δ) measurements based on these is established. Further, ERM‐AE143 anchors δ‐scales ratios therefore establishes SI traceability, here traceability base unit mole. applies especially DSM3 scale, proposed be maintained. With ERM‐AE144 are product educt sublimation–condensation process, first time set published value apparent triple fractionation exponent θ app , relationship ln α( Mg)/ln Mg).
