ABSTRACT
Aims Low‐grade intraductal carcinoma (LG‐IDC) is a clinically indolent malignant tumour of the salivary glands. Because its rarity, histological variants LG‐IDC have not been well characterised. Herein, we describe five cases with prominent oncocytic change in major Methods and results We examined cases, three males two females (mean age = 63 years), change. The sites affected by were parotid submandibular lesions macroscopically unilocular or multilocular cysts solid arising from cyst wall. Smaller cell nests also observed. As classic LG‐IDC, wall was surrounded myoepithelial cells no invasive component. had abundant cytoplasm proliferated low‐papillary, tubular cribriform pattern. Immunohistochemically, diffusely positive for pan‐cytokeratin, S100, mammaglobin antimitochondria antibody, negative androgen receptor gross cystic disease fluid protein‐15. Unlike some these demonstrated focal invagination tumour. Conclusion Oncocytic should be recognised as histologically unique variant LG‐IDC. Awareness this entity important to avoid erroneous diagnosis inappropriate treatment mimics.
