ABSTRACT
The aim of this study was to develop and test the construct content validity, internal consistency Family-Carer Diabetes Management Self-Efficacy Scale (F-DMSES). A sample 70 Thai individuals who cared for those living with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in a rural community Thailand included study. Data were collected by questionnaire survey January 2014. F-DMSES initially derived from DMSES, subsequent forward backward translations English languages. psychometric properties (content, consistency) version explored using Content Validity Index approach, exploratory factor analysis Cronbach's alpha test. designed 20 items reduced 14 within four factors (general diet blood glucose monitoring, medications complications, differing situations, weight control physical activities), explained 72.2% total variance overarching construct. Internal supported (α = 0.89). also able measure change over time following an intervention, effect size 0.9. is valid reliable self-administered instrument that measures management self-efficacy family-carers T2DM. This can be used practice clinical trials assess impact on health outcomes
