ABSTRACT
Social prescribing is an increasingly popular approach to promoting health and well-being, by addressing the wider determinants of such as physical inactivity, social isolation financial insecurity. link workers (SPs) connect people local, non-clinical services. As part NHS Long Term Plan, England aims recruit 1,000 SPs across 2021. Understanding role SPs, including challenging aspects types training support needed crucial optimising effectiveness prescribing. Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with nine from five voluntary sector organisations in London explore identify SP needs. Interviews analysed thematically three key themes emerged for which particular support: defining their role; supporting clients complex needs coping emotional demands role. perceptions future presented a fourth theme. Most felt that initial received did not prepare them most demanding roles.
