ABSTRACT
Abstract An inexpensive and facile direct method to synthesis ultrafine WC ‐Co composite powders was proposed employing soluble starch as an in situ carbon source a H 2 atmosphere via one‐step reduction‐carbonization process. Influences of processing factors, such temperature, flow rate, reaction time have been investigated. The results revealed that the system process dynamic nature where had suitable value achieve desired product phase. Mainly due gas homogeneous carbon, synthesizing temperature were greatly lower than conventional method. Lowering increasing rate would lead finer powders. Ultrafine with almost no unwanted phases obtained under 0.75 m 3 /h at 950°C for 0.5 hour average particle size 155 nm good dispersion. Furthermore, mechanism phase transformation discussed this study well.
