ABSTRACT
Hip fractures in the elderly are a serious problem for health service due to high rate of complications. One these complications is pressure ulcers that, according literature, occur 8.8% 55% patients and mainly arise sacral area. The present randomised controlled trial tests whether applying new innovative multi‐layer polyurethane foam dressing (ALLEVYN LIFE™), reduces onset From March December 2016, 359 fragility hip fracture were randomly divided into 2 groups: 182 control group 177 experimental group. Pressure occurred overall 36 (10%): 8 (4.5%) compared 28 (15.4%) group: P = 0.001, relative risk 0.29 (95% CI 0.14‐0.61) with NNT 9 6‐21). In on average 6th day 4th (HR 4.4). Using effective at reducing sacrum fracture. adhesiveness this device also enables costs be kept down.
