ABSTRACT
Eight cases of feline plasma cell pododermatitis, collected over a 3-year period, were studied using histological (haematoxylin and eosin), histochemical (methyl green-pyronin) immunohistochemical (antibody against lambda light chains immunoglobulins) techniques. No sex, breed or age predisposition, paw predilection was observed. The disease began as swelling the footpads, followed by ulceration. Histologically, lesions characterized presence large number cells in predominantly perivascular pattern. Binucleated mitotic figures Clinical follow-up for 1 year revealed total remission both after glucocorticoid therapy four cases, surgical excision two animals. Follow-up studies not possible one case.
