Study on the Immune Response and Serological Diagnosis of Equine Histoplasmosis (Epizootic Lymphangitis)

Summary Two serological techniques and a skin hypersensitivity test were evaluated for their possible use in the diagnosis of equine histoplasmosis. Although infection primarily involves cutaneous lymphatics, significant level humoral cell‐mediated antibodies was shown to develop during course infection. Titres 512–1,024 1,024–4,096, respectively, obtained using tube passive haemagglutination tests. A positive reaction developed 48–71 hours post‐inoculation 1 100 diluted histoplasmin made from mycelial phase isolated strains. Zusammenfassung Untersuchungen über die Immunantwort und serologische Diagnose der equinen Histoplasmose (epizootische Lymphangitis) Es wurden bei Pferden durchgeführt, an epizootischer Lymphangitis „Pferdehistoplasmose” erkrankt waren. Zwei Verfahren ein Hautempfindlichkeitstest auf ihren diagnostischen Wert geprüft.
