abstract In this essay, I discuss the implications of debate over offshoring for our collective understanding international business and management theories. review several core theories in expansion strategy to assess which elements these may need be re‐specified light phenomenon aspects remain relevant. then present normative recommendations public policy corporate strategy, drawing from emerging insights regarding global responsibilities corporations. suggest that labour environmental standards codes conduct could mitigate some most intense concerns raised about but conclude is likely challenges societies, corporations, stakeholders many decades.
