ABSTRACT
To describe the prevalence of operationally defined fatigue in an ethnically diverse HIV-infected population south London, and to examine association with demographic characteristics, stage disease, antiretroviral therapy psychological factors.A descriptive comparative cross-sectional study patients attending a London HIV clinic over 5-month period 2002 was performed. Demographic clinical data were obtained from local database. Participants completed four self-administered questionnaires-the Chalder Fatigue Scale (CFS), measure physical mental fatigue; General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) detect anxiety depression; Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Survey (SF-36) functional status, Illness Perception (IPQ). 'cases' as those scoring at least 4 on CFS. Multivariate logistic regression used identify factors associated presence fatigue.Two hundred five approached 148 (72%) agreed participate.
