ABSTRACT
SUMMARY The incorporation of [U‐ 14 C]leucine into the protein brain cortex slices from rats poisoned with methylmercury thioacetamide was markedly inhibited before development neurological symptoms and when oxygen consumption, aerobic anaerobic glycolysis sulphydryl enzyme activities were unchanged. After appearance symptoms, consumption decreased significantly, while lactic acid formation did not change under conditions, but slightly conditions. three enzymes (Mg‐activated ATPase, fructose‐ diphosphate aldolase succinate dehydrogenase) almost same in visual cortex, motor cerebellum caudate nucleus, Mg‐activated ATPase dehydrogenase white matter lower than that grey matter. There no difference activity fructosediphosphate all show any earlier stage poisoning animal remained free symptoms. At more advanced stage, present, only other two selective inhibition synthesis may have a direct bearing on by alkylmercury compound.
