ABSTRACT
Abstract This work presents the mitochondrial DNA molecular organization of control region (CR) South American camelids. Sequencing five individuals each guanaco, llama, alpaca and vicuna species showed that this spans 1060 bp including three conserved sequence blocks (CSB I–III) adjacent to tRNAPhe gene, a central domain one extended termination‐associated in 3′ CR close tRNAPro gene. A repeated array formed by units 26 was detected between CSB I II. Alignment sequences from four shows 337‐bp segment includes most nucleotide variability with 10 polymorphic sites. We suggest use as marker infer data on camelid genetic relationships population diversity studies.
