ABSTRACT
The present study was conducted to screen for psychrophilic yeasts that are able degrade pectin compounds at low temperature, and examine the cold-active pectinolytic enzymes produced by isolated yeasts.Psychrophilic yeasts, which grow on as a sole carbon source, pectinolytic-psychrophilic yeast (PPY) strains PPY-3, 4, 5 6, were from soil Abashiri (Hokkaido, Japan). sequences of 28S rDNA D1/D2 PPY-3 4 indicated taxonomic affiliation Cryptococcus cylindricus Mrakia frigida, respectively, PPY-5 6 belonged Cystofilobasidium capitatum. below degrees C, showed activities several enzymes. The findings this indicate possibility produce novel temperature. It is possible can be applied food industry, e.g. clarification fruit juice C.
