ABSTRACT
The ICD is an important treatment option in adults and children with life‐threatening tachyarrhvthmias. possibility of lead displacement caused by growth the lack dedicated leads cind devices poses special problems pediatric implantation. We describe our experience three whom we left a redundant loop within inferior vena cava (IVC) to allow for further growth. Since February 1998, underwent implantation at institution. A had (screw‐in) was advanced into right ventricular apex, created IVC progressively withdrawing stylet pushing lead. Satisfactory sensing pacing threshold values were obtained successful single 16‐J de‐fibrillation test performed. No complications encountered. After mean follow‐up 16 months, increase body weight height 4.1 ± 0.5 Kg 6.3 0.4 cm, respectively, chest X ray showed some release additional length, absence dislodgments, while significant changes pacing/sensing parameters not found. In conclusion, creation allows adjust receiving ICD. This approach feasible safe.
