ABSTRACT
Alterations of natural killer (NK) function can be involved in the neuroimmune mechanism neurodegeneration dementia Alzheimer's type (DAT). NK cell cytotoxicity (NKCC) and generation release IFN-gamma TNF-alpha (spontaneous modulated by IL-2) from pure cells (CD 16+, CD 56+, 3-) were studied together with circulating levels cognitive 22 old patients DAT 15 healthy subjects. Higher (p < 0.001) IL-2 NKCC (with 50 U/mL 100 U/mL) was demonstrated (+35% +99% baseline) than subjects (+6% +76% baseline). Increased spontaneous IL-2-induced found compared to 0.001), whereas no difference serum between control groups. Significant negative correlations among decrease score (MMSE) DAT. In conclusion, alterations NK-derived cytokine could neuroinflammatory related progression dementia.
