ABSTRACT
The dissolution of amorphous SiO 2 particles in CaO – Al O 3 slags was investigated at 1450°C by high‐temperature confocal scanning laser microscopy ( HT ‐ CSLM ) and thermodynamic/kinetic analyses. used this experimental study had a spherical form so that any rotation the particle did not cause errors determination size during dissolution. Moreover, wide composition range slag could be chosen without forming solid reaction layer which distort evaluation mechanism. evolution diameter measured image analysis pictures obtained from . It found curve (size as function time) exhibited either parabolic‐like or an S‐shaped depending on composition. patterns were compared with well‐known shrinking core model SCM ), it shown represent behavior observed study. experimentally shape curves varies for low ‐containing changed to S‐type increasing concentration slag.
