ABSTRACT
Abstract Durability and corrosion behavior of refractory lining, a core part commercial water‐coal slurry gasifier, largely determine its gas yield rate carbon conversion rate. In this work, high chromite‐containing served for 4200 hours in gasifier was studied, the role generated stress cracks on degradation elucidated. The results demonstrated that depth penetration under assistance up to 2.60 cm, which much deeper than case free from crack. sub‐surface, accompanied by cracking, provided pathway slag resulted more severe corrosion. Furthermore, isolation layer (Cr, Fe, Al) 2 O 3 solid solution refractory’ surface trapped most iron oxides. As result, further attack other main corrosive species controlled their diffusion through it.
