ABSTRACT
To investigate the mechanisms leading to an increase in prevalence of blaCMY -2 conferring resistance ceftiofur pigs receiving a feed medicated with chlortetracycline and penicillin, examine effect supplementation clay mineral on this phenomenon. In 138 -positive Escherichia coli isolates from faeces supplemented or not 2% clinoptilolite, day 2 28 after weaning, two groups differed significantly respect their phylogenetic group: phylotype A predominated group, whereas phylotypes B1 D control as determined by PCR. In 36 representative isolates, pulsed-field gel electrophoresis antimicrobial susceptibility testing revealed that E. were polyclonal diverse patterns -carrying plasmids incompatibility (Inc) groups, A/C, I1 ColE observed transformants detected Enterobacter cloacae possessing IncA/C found pens before introduction batch pigs. The more clonally group than group. The gene appears have spread both horizontally may previous batches via carried Ent. expanded animals present presence selection pressure due administration penicillin feed. Feed clonal diversity isolates.Implementation improved hygiene measures, decreased certain antimicrobials farm ingredients limit between within animals.
