ABSTRACT
The potential of gallnut tannin (GT) and Lactobacillus plantarum (LP) on fermentation characteristics, in vitro ruminal methane (CH4 ) production microbiota alfalfa silage was investigated.Alfalfa ensiled with GT (20 50 g kg-1 dry matter [DM]) LP (3 × 108 CFU per gram fresh matter) alone or combination for 60 days. decreased DM losses, pH non-protein nitrogen contents silage. All additive treatments CH4 production, increased propionic acid molar proportions Fibrobacter succinogenes numbers. treatment nutrient degradation, cellobiase, pectinase protease activities, Prevotella ruminicola abundance, whereas high-dose inhibited these variables. Importantly, together alleviated the adverse effects supply by enhancing activities as well Rumincoccus flavefaciens P. growth.Combination can be used an efficient to improve quality utilization ruminants.Using GT-LP has practical implications, particularly concerning tannins mitigation, which may alleviate inhibitory feed digestion through modulating microbiota.
