Nutritional status and its health‐related factors among older adults in rural and urban areas

ABSTRACT
Abstract Aim To compare health‐related characteristics, nutrition‐related factors and nutritional status of older adults living in rural urban counties Taiwan. Background The adult population Taiwan is increasing. Furthermore, people areas have shorter life expectancy more chronic diseases than their counterparts. However, little known about the Taiwan, limiting nurses' ability to identify care for at risk poor health. Design Cross‐sectional, comparative. Methods Older were randomly selected from names residents an adjacent area northern having completing 2009 health evaluation. From March–July 2010, participants ( N = 366) provided data on demographic information, self‐efficacy, locus control status. Data analysed by descriptive statistics compared using chi‐square t ‐test. Results had significantly lower educational level, less adequate income, higher medication use, scores self‐rated researcher‐rated healthy eating Moreover, chance poorer Conclusions Our results suggest that nurses should assess nutrition knowledge. Based this assessment, develop easy, practical accessible programmes population.
