ABSTRACT
Abstract Problem Adolescents with beta thalassemia major face various physical and psychosocial challenges. Resilience plays a protective role in coping the stress resulting from this disease. Methods This descriptive correlational study was carried out on 134 adolescents (age: 11–21 years old) beta‐thalassemia who were referred at Thalassemia Centre southern Iran October to December 2018 via convenience sampling method. The Jalowiec Coping scale Connor‐Davidson resilience instruments used study. Data analysis done using Pearson correlation coefficient linear regression. Findings shown be correlated subscales of confrontive, optimistic, supportant, evasive significantly positively ( p < .001), while subscale emotive resilience, not significant. In addition, 38% variations explained by five subscales. Conclusions findings study, indicated courageous promoting defensive as factor that leads less than optimal level. Hence, understanding importance factors risk can help healthcare providers planning some effective interventions increase among thalassemia.
