ABSTRACT
Left atrial (LA) interstitial fibrosis is known to have a role in the initiation and maintenance of fibrillation (AF). The galectin-3 pathogenesis cardiac has been demonstrated previous studies. We aimed determine whether serum level associated with markers remodeling, including extent LA detected by delayed enhancement magnetic resonance imaging (DE-MRI) electromechanical delay (AEMD) paroxysmal AF patients preserved left ventricular (LV) functions.Thirty-three (58 [28-74] years, 51.5% male) who underwent DE-MRI prior cryoballoon-based ablation were included study. Serum levels measured ELISA. volume index (B ± SE: 0.424 0.504, 95% CI: 0.560-2.627, P = 0.004) 0.549 7.745, 16.874-47.550, < 0.001) found be independently correlated LV function. Correlation analysis between AEMD parameters baseline characteristics showed that was significantly intra-left (ρ 0.432, 0.012) inter-AEMD 0.395, 0.023). Duration AF, LAD, also parameters. This hypothesis-generating study pointing out remodeling Further studies are necessary provide exact pathophysiological mechanisms.
