ABSTRACT
To identify predictors of treatment outcomes following surgical therapy peri-implantitis.We performed a secondary analysis data from randomized controlled trial (RCT) comparing access flap with or without bone replacement graft. Outcomes at 12 months were probing pocket depth (PPD), bleeding on (BOP), soft-tissue recession (REC) and marginal level (MBL) change. Multilevel regression analyses used to predictors. We also built an explanatory model for residual signs inflammation.Baseline PPD was the most relevant predictor, showing positive associations final PPD, REC MBL gain, negative association probability closure. Smokers presented higher PPD. Absence keratinized mucosa baseline increased BOP but otherwise not indicative outcomes. Plaque 6 weeks detrimental in terms BOP. Treatment allocation had effect REC. Final explained by ≥6 mm plaque more than two sites.Baseline predictor peri-implantitis. Pocket closure should be primary goal treatment. Bone grafts may indicated aesthetically demanding cases reduce recession. The importance smoking cessation patient-performed control is underlined.
