The present study aimed to analyze the temporal changes in prevalence, screening rate, visual impairments and treatment patterns of diabetic retinopathy Korean population over 8 years.This was a retrospective population-based national health insurance beneficiaries aged 30 years or older with type 2 diabetes, obtained from National Health Insurance Claims database 2006 2013 (n = 1,655,495 2,720,777 2013). annual prevalence rates retinopathy, dilated fundus examinations, impairment, laser vitrectomy, as determined based on diagnostic codes, were analyzed.There steady increase 14.3% 15.9% 2013. However, incidence new cases decreased 6.7/100 person-years 5.6 Approximately 98% patients underwent at least one examination during follow-up period. peaked 60-69 age group. higher female than male diabetes patients. proportion who an improved 24.3% 30.0% Among constant decreases proportions those received (11.4% 6.9% 2013) vitrectomy (2.4% 1.7% noted. Additionally, decreasing trend impairment noted among 2% (4,820/237,267) 0.08% (3,572/431,964) 2013.Although there rapid past decade, remained stable just three out 10 regular examinations.
