ABSTRACT
Abstract Aims/Introduction Uric acid is synthesized by oxidation of hypoxanthine and xanthine using a catalyzing enzyme, oxidoreductase (XOR), which can be source reactive oxygen species. Plasma XOR activity metabolic biomarker associated with obesity, hyperuricemia, liver dysfunction insulin resistance. However, it has recently been reported that in fat tissue low humans, unlike rodents, secreted from human tissue. Materials Methods The associations obesity hypoxanthine, plasma were investigated 484 participants (men/women: 224/260) the Tanno‐Sobetsu Study. Results Levels significantly higher men than women. In 59 11 11/0) being treated an inhibitor had level xanthine, but not without treatment. all participants, concentration smokers was non‐smokers. Stepwise multivariate regression analyses showed body mass index, smoking habit independent predictors after adjustment age, sex use antihyperuricemic drugs. Whereas, alanine transaminase, for triglycerides activity. Conclusions independently habit, indicating differential regulation general population.
